The Garrison Hotel Voltage Optimisation

10% average energy savings achieved by ECO-MAX, saving £5,683 per year, with a payback under 2 years

The Garrison Hotel is a family run business situated within Hillsborough Barracks Sheffield. The Grade II listed building, originally a jail, guardhouse and ammunition store has been sympathetically converted in to a modern hotel.

GWE were approached to assess the viability of implementing voltage optimisation to reduce the hotel’s energy consumption, and therefore costs.

By analysing electricity bills and carrying out a survey, the hotels peak energy consumption, or Maximum Demand (MD) was established. This highlighted that the hotels electricity supply was far larger than actually required. Therefore it made more sense to fit an optimiser that met the hotels requirements, rather than simply matching the size of the electricity supply.

This approach reduced the cost of the equipment, gave a higher return on investment, and resulted in a payback of under two years.

The graph above shows the hotels daily energy consumption for 1st Feb – 23rd May, 2015 and 2016.
The consumption with ECO-MAX installed is clearly lower than without ECO-MAX in 2015. This is despite degree day data for the area showing it was considerably colder in 2016.
Comparing the two periods, the hotels energy consumption reduced by 13,970 kWhrs equating to a saving of £1,790!

We had an ECO-MAX optimiser fitted to reduce our energy costs, and it’s done just that! It was initially looking like we’d be saving nearly £6,000 a year, but GWE also highlighted we were being overcharged, which prompted us to renegotiate a reduction in our energy tariffs so we are now saving even more! To minimise any disruption to our guests, GWE arranged to have the optimiser installed overnight. They provided a hassle free service and I have no hesitation in recommending GWE’s products and services.
